02 — The Leader

A headteacher-ready leader for schools that need clarity, courage and improvement grip.

Twenty years of education leadership across mainstream secondary, alternative provision and specialist SEND — from teacher to Headteacher to consultant.

My strongest contribution is in settings where safeguarding, inclusion, culture, attendance, behaviour, SEND, staff confidence and inspection readiness need to be brought together into one coherent improvement plan.

I am particularly interested in leadership opportunities where schools need calm judgement, honest diagnosis, strong systems and measurable improvement — without losing sight of children, families and staff.

What I can step in and do

  1. Stabilise culture, routines and safeguarding expectations.
  2. Translate complex evidence into clear priorities and action.
  3. Build confidence with staff, governors, trustees and local authorities.
  4. Strengthen inclusion, attendance, behaviour and curriculum coherence.
  5. Create improvement systems that continue beyond the first burst of urgency.
A leadership philosophy
Excellence and equity belong together. The strongest schools combine ambition with humanity — clear standards, strong safeguarding, and adults who refuse to give up on children.

03 — The Approach

Rapid, ethical and sustainable improvement.

A leadership approach that combines high expectations, practical implementation and child-centred decision-making. Direct enough to create momentum. Human enough to build trust.

01

Immediate diagnosis

Identify the real barriers quickly: safeguarding culture, attendance patterns, behaviour routines, SEND provision, curriculum design, staffing capacity and governance oversight.

02

Focused implementation

Turn priorities into visible actions, clear routines, staff training, accountability rhythms and evidence-informed improvement cycles that leaders can actually maintain.

03

Measured impact

Use the right evidence to show what is improving, what remains vulnerable and what leaders need to do next — without creating inspection theatre.

04 — Support for schools

How I create impact in schools.

Support can be delivered through selected leadership roles, interim capacity, consultancy, training or practical school improvement tools.

i. Leadership

Interim & transition leadership

Experienced headship-level capacity for schools needing stabilisation, leadership grip, post-inspection momentum, SEND/AP expertise or support during transition.

iii. Improvement

Rapid school improvement

Behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, SEND, inclusion, curriculum, ICFP and implementation support for schools needing sharper priorities and stronger systems.

iv. Development

Professional development that changes practice

05 — Core belief

Excellence and equity belong together.

I came into teaching because I believed — and still believe — that a great education changes the direction of a life. The strongest schools combine ambition with humanity: clear standards, strong safeguarding, inclusive practice and adults who refuse to give up on children.

06 — Writing & insight

ICFP: the skill every headteacher needs right now.

An honest look at why curriculum-led financial planning is not an accounting exercise — but a leadership discipline tied to sustainability, staffing and standards.

I write about culture, inclusion, safeguarding, attendance, SEND, curriculum, inspection readiness, staff confidence and ethical implementation. More articles and reflection tools are in development as part of The Excellence Classroom's growing professional library.
